CIDRUX Pharminformatics was established in 2002 as a spin-off company of Leiden University, The Netherlands.
The focus of CIDRUX is on cheminformatics, i.e. computational intelligence methods to support lead finding and lead optimization in the early stages of drug design and discovery.

A few months ago the Molecule Evoluator was very favorably reviewed in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. In it Jeff Zablocki of CV Therapeutics in Palo Alto, CA, USA wrote among others: "I tried the Molecule Evoluator by starting with a competitor’s lead compound and generating five to eight libraries. In general, when using the program, I was able to obtain distinct, patentable compounds over 90% of the time. In another application, my co-workers and I wanted to obtain molecules that had a higher chance of penetrating the central nervous system and the blood brain barrier. By setting the PSA to below 90, the Molecule Evoluator provided structures of sufficient interest that they are going to be synthesized at a later date."
The Molecule CommanderTM is a brand-new addition to the software repertoire of Cidrux. It generates libraries of any size - from dozens to millions - of molecules with specified physico-chemical features. It does so from ’scratch’, effectively exploring nearby and remote areas of chemical space. Alternatively, it starts from say a competitor’s molecule, meticulously searching available ’patent space’. It is used as a ’front-load’ to any platform that incorporates software components into a drug discovery workflow.
